Worldwide CD release
Richard Carpenter's participation in this album is extremely minimal -- he wrote the string arrangement for "Breaking Up is Hard to Do."
This album was released as Overnight Success in the UK, and, with a slightly different track listing, The Hungry Years elsewhere; the CD version, released in 1998, contains all the songs from both versions of the album, plus a few bonus tracks.
"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" is notable in that Neil Sedaka had a #1 hit with the song in the early 1960s, and his 1975 re-working of the song reached the U.S. Top Ten -- the only time an artist has done that with a remake of their own song.
