This is a fairly mundane compilation, containing mostly the album versions of the songs. The one unigue factor with this album is the first track - the opening overture to The Singles: 1969-1973 has been tacked onto "Only Yesterday," so the track starts with "Close to You," then plays the instrumental portion of the overture, and it fades into the opening of "Only Yesterday" instead of continuing to "We've Only Just Begun." This wouldn't have been something Richard Carpenter would have done, as it's not a remix so much as just a simple edit. But it makes the version of "Only Yesterday" here unlike any other version.
This is a legitimate A&M/Polygram release, although I doubt the re-edit of "Only Yesterday" was authorized by Richard Carpenter...
